the base of this monitor is really amazing. i can turn it to any direction
It is an all-powerful monitor. the base of this monitor is really amazing. i can turn it to any direction. And there is a speaker inside so that u dont need to buy extra voice box if u do not have high sound quality requirement. it has a wide color gamut and no color cast.

This is a nice monitor
This is much nicer than I thought it would be. I haven't even used all the features yet but for the photo work I doing this monitor is perfect. I can see in to the tone ranges and it's true to its color.

Severe light-bleed issue
I purchased this NEC monitor about a month ago, and while using it I noticed a "glowing effect" on the lower left corner. Further study made me realize that this monitor was severely "leaking" or "bleeding" light from that corner. It light-bleeds from the other corners, but no where near as bad as the lower left corner. The other light-bleeding was well within tolerance for an LCD. Most LCD displays will bleed light a little, but this one has a noticeable amount of light-bleed, so much that it ruins dark scenes in games or anything with a dark background.I returned the monitor to the vendor in the hopes it was just a bad unit. The next unit came to me in identical condition. Not wanting to believe that the model line defective, I decided to return it to NEC for a refurbished unit. Refurbs straight from the original manufacturer are usually the best way to replace a defective product. The refurbished unit also had the same severe light-bleed issue, meaning all of the EA234WMI-BK's have severe light-bleed.In the end I returned the second monitor to Amazon for a refund, and the third monitor back to NEC. NEC's tech support was fantastic! They did everything via email, did not require I make some account, believed me about the defective units, and got a replacement unit within the same week. Overall, NEC did a great job with tech support/customer service. Unfortunately, the monitor was no good, but I brought the issue to their attention, so hopefully they will fix this model line.I chose this monitor because it fulfilled every requirement I had. Except for the light-bleed this monitor was great, it had all of the features I wanted, HDMI and DP, usb hub, and you could turn off the power led if you wanted too.

great Monitor
Only drawback is that the on/off button is heat actuated or something-- meaning you can actually feel for it if there are no light on in the room

Everything I expected.
Works great as a vertical monitor - would definitely recommend for anyone looking for an additional monitor to be used for coding and development.

Severe Light Bleed
I also experienced severe light bleed issues with this monitor. I ordered 2 and they both had very bad bleed from the bottom right corner. Apart from this the monitor had great build quality, nice on screen controls and such, but the light bleeding issues made me return them.

Terrible Input Problems (among others).
I've never has as many problems with a monitor as I have with this one. I'm actually now on my fourth time contacting support... for a monitor! If you're trying to use this monitor with a docking station, get ready for a world of frustration. My current problem is that it wants to stay in HDMI input mode. This would be great if I had an HDMI device attached, but I don't. I need it to stay in DVI-D mode, but every single time it powers down it goes to HDMI input mode. And of course, DVI-D mode is three settings away from HDMI mode, so I have to cycle through all the inputs till I get the right one. This is hands down the most frustrating pieces of hardware I've ever owned.
