Dulce et Decorum est

Wonderful experience.
This has always been a favourite poem of mine, studied for a degree and taught often in High School. However, this book is a wonderful way of getting to grips with the poem again. The earlier drafts of the work give a real insight into the poet's mind as he was writing this and the wonderful paintings have an immediacy which adds to the written work. Thank you Martin Impey for a wonderful experience.

JUST FABULOUS
I purchased Dulce et Decorum Est with illustrations by Martin Impey as I was aware of Martin's work and wanted to see what he could do with this iconic poem, one of my favourites. I wasn't disappointed. The words and images are the perfect and poignant reminder of the horror of WW1 and the sacrifices made for our freedom today. Worth having a copy of this book to hand down to the generations to come! Lest we forget.

Beautiful styling
This is the most wonderful book on the most famous poem written after WWI and should be bought for every school in this country. Stunning artwork by Martin Impey... Please buy it.

Disappointed
Thought this would be a lasting memento of the WW1 centenary, but find myself disappointed. For the price, expected a hardback edition, but this is a very slim glossy paperback. Two typos in the Forward: “solider” instead of “soldier” twice - unforgivable in this context. Eight pages given over to photos of original drafts of the poem, then the full text of the poem, which retains its power, then the poem broken down line by line with illustrations, which in style may not be to everyone’s taste. Wish I’d bought a anthology of war poetry instead.

Read and think
This book is beautifully illustrated and yet is a trully poignant remeinder of all the horros of war that we have been remembering this year.

A very special book a true interpretation
The Artist shows a true understanding of the period, the men, the feelings and the meaning of the poem. His style fits well the words and his capture of the scenes works a magic of true interpretation. A really tribute to Owens verse.

Beautiful and moving.
The set up of this book is really special with the poet's own writings on paper being shown and then the moving illustrations. The quality is also very good and it is a book to be looked at again and again and to be cherished.
