A well thought through product
The first thing that struck me when I looked at the packing list that comes with this product was that it is all there. This USB network adapter comes complete with 1m extension cable, a mounting caddy and even a square of hook and eye fastener with which to secure the mounting caddy to a suitable surface as well as the usual PC installation CD.A small but important point for me is that this device has its MAC number clearly displayed on one side. This is a vital piece of information if you use an access list with your router. (This is a security setting that allows only the listed devices to connect to the router). If you use this setting then before doing anything else you will need to add the MAC number of your new Netgear adapter to your 'allowed' list. The rest of the set up with my Panasonic TV was trivial. The only issue that I encountered was that the blue light on this adapter is small and I found it not all that easy to see. However, it still only took me a couple of minutes to get the connection with my router up and running. It then took another couple of minutes to finish setting up the TV, which had detected the device the moment that I plugged it in.I am really very impressed by this network adapter. Setting it up and getting it working was far easier than I had expected. And I had everything that I might need to hand because it is all there in the one box.Post Script:I had an issue with the Wi-Fi link to my Panasonic television when everything froze. This appears to be a problem with the firmware in the TV. The fix is simple:1. Connect to your router automatically;2. Enter the edit connection settings and turn DHCP off;3. Set the last number in the IP address for yout TV to a high number such as 200;4. Set the DNS address to that of a free DNS server eg Google on 8.8.8.8);5. Press the 'Return' button on your remote to save your new settings.Do not change the gateway address. This is the address where your TV needs to go to connect to the Internet. These settings minimise the work that the TV has to do to connect to the Internet. Test them by viewing a reliable site such as the BBC iPlayer. If they don't work you can always revert to the automatic settings.

Good for normal use, now also great for gaming.
Let me first start by saying that originally I used a Netgear WG111 Adapter which worked exceptionally well, but didn't have very good speeds, nor 5GHz compatibility. So I moved to this device in the hope that it would be just as good, as the routers supplied with our Virgin Media broadband have always been Netgear.Worked very well to start with, strong signal and maxing out at a speed of 160Mbps download and 12Mbps upload. However, after a few months it started to give me ping lag which is very annoying for gaming as it would fluctuate from a steady <15ms ping to around 300ms or higher then go back to normal, but the fluctuations would be long enough for me to be kicked from games such as Battlefield 4 due to the high ping. A complete nightmare for gamers.EDIT 2016-2017: Since reviewing this wifi adapter the problem has corrected itself. Updating to the latest drivers after they were released fixed my issues. The adapter is capable of speeds upto ~162Mbps, which in the 3 years since my review is now slower than the full 200Mbps which Virgin Media provide and I can get on my phone, but it's still a very reliable adapter and works well for gaming. The Linksys EA3000 I had intended to replace this with was actually much worse to the point where it refused to stay connected and I had to return it. For something reliable, you're better off with one of these!

Not quite a 5 star review
Bought this for my desktop PC. Had a few issues installing it!!1. The supplied dock didn't work on my PC ( the dongle works OK when it is plugged directly into a USB port, sans dock)2. I couldn't connect to my wireless network using the button on the dongle. (had to type in details the old fashioned way)So a four star review due to the above points & no clue to as why it doesn't work in the supplied dock! It does drop out occasionally (I just pull it out and plug it back in and it finds the signal again) but most of the time it stays connected well, gives a strong signal and does the job, overall a good product. Shame the dock didn't work as I bought it for the dock & no clue to why?It doesn't quite work right for me but overall a good item, simple to install & about 95% reliable on the connection (with the odd drop out).

NetGear RangeMax DualBand Wireless Adapter
I purchased this as I had just bought a Panasonic Viera TV and wanted to connect it to my wireless modem so that I could get the TV online. The Panasonic one costs so much more and this one works just as well, plus I have used NetGear products before and have never really had any issues with them, very reliable stuff.Setting it up to work with the TV was pretty straight forward, you just plug it into the 1'st USB port in the back, power on the TV and go into settings and let it do an auto scan, it found the device straight away. All you need after that is your modem/router settings (password, ip address etc - usually written on the back of the router) and input them into the network screen on the settings menu on the TV and thats it.Gave it a 5-star rating as it was simple to setup and worked exactly a Panasonic one would.Something else in its favour is that NetGear give it a 2 year warranty.I would quite happily recommend it to others.
