Ok before I start I would like to make it clear that I am not one of those negative "slag stuff off for the sake of it" fools that clog up the internet with useless and irrelivant opinions designed to elevate my own pathetic status by putting others down. Here goes: This CD which for some reason is being sold as a "best of RCA Bow wow wow compilation" is actually a 2-disc set of which the first is the brilliant(deep breath)"See jungle!See jungle!Go join your gang yeah!City all over go ape crazy" album and the 2nd is various other tracks released on the RCA label. The original vinyl release of this album sounded brilliant. The instrumentation is amazing and demands and deserves to be heard with good sound quality. Some years back the US label "One way records" released this album on CD and for some unknown reason managed to make the album sound dull,muffled and lifeless.I can only assume this was down to either bad mastering or no mastering. This release sounds no better than the "One-way records" release. Not only that but the biggest insult has to be that the opening 2 seconds (first three and a half beats of bar one to be boringly technical)of "Sinner,sinner,sinner" have been clipped!! It's as if whoever mastered it really didn't give a damn. I'll tell you who also don't appear to give a damn and that's Cherry Red who are responsible for this sonic atrocity. They'll happily take my £11.99 but they won't put up the initial funding to pay someone to do a decent remastering job or even get at least one of their employees to check the release over before sending it out to the mass. They deserve to be taken to court. This is a massive rip-off and they need to pay for it.I'd be very interested to hear what they've got to say for themselves because quite frankly this release is an embarrassment and an insult to Bow Wow Wow. The thing that get's me is that some of the tracks on disc two sound pretty good and I'd have been more than happy if the other tracks had sounded as good as these. I shall be returning this CD back to Amazon and asking for a full refund which is a great shame as amazon rule and don't deserve to lose out on a sale just coz of a bunch of planks at Cherry Red. What ever happened to Cherry Red? They used to be cool. They gave us great bands like The Monochrome set. Not anymore apparently. So the long and short of it is this: If you like Bow Wow Wow and you want a copy of this great album...Don't bother with this release.

Got it today. I have to agree with the previous reviewers, the sound is pretty mediocre. This album did sound tremendous on vinyl (at one time i owned a Japanese pressing), Sinner does start a couple seconds into the song, & while not mentioned in the other reviews, the liner notes are beyond lame.At the same time, I got it for under $10 USD, & I'm looking at it as paying $9.50 for the Teenage Queen ep on cd.

I couldn't agree more with the previous review. Awesome album as such - terrible, terrible mastering. Let's sign up for a mass action against whoever committed this crime...
