MAXXHAUL 50606 Hitch Style 2-Bike Carrier Platform Style Rack for Standard, Fat Tire, Electric Bikes 2" Hitch Receiver - 66 lbs Weight Capacity Per Bike

When I bought this I had no reviews to base my decision on. So here is some help for you if your looking at buying this bike rack. I wanted a bike rack but didn’t want to spend $600 on it. This had many of the features I was looking at the price of $299. It has everything you will need except the Max Haul hitch bolt lock, that is extra. FYI, you will need this lock to keep the rack from swaying. Also a ratchet and 15/16” socket to tighten the hitch lock bolt. This rack will take 2 people to assemble and 2 people to install. It is very heavy. Assembly was easy and took about 1 1/2 hrs. I recommend a rubber mallet for tapping on the ratchet straps when assembling. I will also be adding signal lights with zip-ties, for better visibility. I installed this on a 2022 Chevy Equinox. The bikes are a 29” and 26”. This is a very good value and well made, and I would recommend if you are looking for a budget bike rack. Tip: have someone take the pressure by lifting up on the rack before using the lever for tilting down for hatch access.

There are a few other companies that build a carrier identical to this one. In fact with those you can use your own lock, instead of being forced into using their lock only. Get one of those. I received one that had a defective tilting mechanism. I actually contacted Maxhaul direct using the number provided from Amazon in the event of having a problem with the rack. The representative literally said “I don’t care”. Needless to say they have their rack back, and I’m getting one from one of the other companies.

After wasting an hour putting everything together, the hitch-pin doesn't thread in to the rack. I took it all apart and returned it.

Not beautiful but rugged and made well. Liked that it has a tilt feature allowing you to open a back hatch door. Wish they included the special hitch lock that is needed. (It screws in to secure from rattling around.) Fits my 5" wide fat tire bike perfectly!

I bought this to haul one electric bike and one non electric bike. My electric bike fit within the weight specifications and the non electric bike is super light. Even with the rack not maxed out on weight, the bike was not secure and would bounce and wobble and shift even just within a few miles from home. I will be selling this rack on a garage sale page. Skip this one and order a different one that is stable.
