Great shape and a good deal.

Beware of used units.
My star rating does not reflect the unit listed in new or working condition. The unit I received was not a Survivor 06, but rather a PUR model, which I thought was a gross misrepresentation even though they are similar. The unit I received was from 1996 with a most recent inspection/service date of 2002 even though it was "Used-Very Good". If you order a used desalinator make sure the membrane has been maintained annually as required in the Katadyne instructions. This does require a chemical solution as noted by other reviewers. A new membrane for this unit is $340 list and user changeable. Note that is some of the listings will say "last service more than a year ago" they mean you will need a membrane. Also, on something this old, the seals may need to be changed which requires service by Katadyne. Again, this should not reflect badly on the Katadyne product but rather be informational about the risks of a used unit. I have a powered Katadyne unit and it works well and Katadyne has great customer service. I plan to buy a new Survivor 06 rather than used.
