Just what I wanted
My old mandolin was getting dull, so I bought this one to replace it. Its very sharp and cuts good. I found the way the slice thickness is set a little odd (there are different insert plates for different sizes), but it works well. It's shorter than my old one, but that does not seem to make too much difference. The built in folding stand is really nice.I put it in the dishwasher to clean it. It always comes out clean. The safety handle works pretty good for most vegetables (it doesn't work for carrots). If you don't or can't use it you gotta be careful not to cut your fingers because this thing is sharp.

Simplicity
Wow, it's been 3 years that I got this mandolin and I still love it. Most of the time, I use the thin slice mode, which is what I love it for. I can slice onions, zucchini and carrot ribbons, potatoes for scalloped, even firm tomatoes. I don't ever use the second blade, which is for julienne cuts. I had other mandolins which were more sophisticated with lots of blades but they took a big space in my small cabinets. This one fits perfectly in a small drawer of knives. It is just as uncomplicated as I needed to be.

I'm.impressed..
Does exactly what I wanted. To slice veggies to make my own veggie chips. Since I got it I have sliced sweet potatoes, carrots, I will slice beets, squash, turnips etc. I sliced apples and pears too bake without a pie crust. I think this is a great slicer if you dehydrate or can.The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because it doesn't have any instructions and I still can't figure out how to use the second slicer to make crinkle vegetables. I am unfamiliar with this type of an apparatus. The attachment that holds the vegetables I don't find very easy to work with however because I'm using tough vegetables that is also very long so the apparatus doesn't stay on the vegetable. I compensate by using my hands toward the blade then when the vegetable get closer to the blade I try to put the attachment on it so in that way I think it's tremendously potentially unsafe and wouldn't let a young person use it without supervision. The blade is very sharp the vegetables move very smoothly with a forward and back motion, far more easy than I anticipated. It's a great price for what it is I did not want to purchase a food processor that did multitasking when I only wanted to slice vegetables.

Makes awesome shoestring potatoes
I bought this for my father-in-law as a birthday gift. That being said I had to show him how to use it and it works really well. VERY SHARP! Please be very careful when using this product as the blade is very sharp. You can cut perfect cucumbers carrots potatoes whatever you want quickly and with little effort. We have been using a traditional french fry cutter which became difficult to use with the amount of force needed and the potatoes were bigger than desired. I also use this to make a Ratatouille and ended up with paper thin slices of squash perfection! Very easy to use, would be a great gift for someone who likes to can vegetables or make pickles.

Blade not sharp, tears food
I love the deign with the removable plates to set the width, and the versatile hand guard. However, the blade was not sharp and it’s non removable. Rather that cutting food, it tore the food. This is particularly unsafe, and not very useful for its intended purpose. Additionally the fry cut blades are too delicate and are easily bent. Good design with bad execution.

Not as good as previous model
Several dislikes. There’s no case like the previous version. There is only one set of blades and they are too narrow for French fries and too wide for hash browns and julienne. Now there are only three slice thicknesses, whereas before there were four. The super thin thickness is absent. This was very useful for slicing zucchini and yellow squash to be used as noodles for manicotti and lasagna.Overall, I am disappointed because everything I use a mandolin for is gone with this model.

Use the guard!!!
Love the slicer!! But beware, ALWAYS use the guard!!! Sliced a hunk of my thumb almost all the way off. My mistake for not using the guard!!

Can I give a negative rating?
Terrible terrible terrible design. The lever to adjust the slicing thickness or julienne cut DOES NOT WORK. You can have tick slices or tick slices or tick slices. The lever raises ONLY one side of the blade, and then it pops out. I only tried to use for the first time today after the returned period. NO, YOU CANNOT ADJUST THE TICKNESS. IT IS A PIECE OF USELESS KITCHEN TOOLS
